Healthy Monsoon through AYURVEDA


 The monsoons have set in and we all fall in love with the rain. But the season brings a lot of diseases. So through ayurveda one can lead a healthy life in this season.

          The dietary and lifestyle are to be controlled to balance vata and pitta dosha so that one can attain a good health.

     FOODS that are to be followed

        Should not take heavy foods (foods that are difficult for digestion) as one will have low digestive fire.

        Use bitter taste vegetables and herbs.

        Eat warm foods to get a good metabolism.

        Add lot of spices and herbs like turmeric, ginger, garlic, cardamom that are antifungal and antiviral in property.

        Limit the intake of sea food as water contamination is probably high. 

        Fermented foods like yogurt and buttermilk can be added for your good health.

        Can take hot soup along with spices for improving digestive fire.


         AYURVEDA THERAPIES PRACTICED DURING MONSOON SEASON

         1)ABHYANGAM - Massaging the whole body with medicated oil to improve blood circulation and to rejuvenate body cells.

         2)SWEDANAM - The body is made to sweat by using steam from medicated herbs.

         3)PIZHICHIL - Oil is poured all over body to keep the skin away from dryness and also fight against neurological disorders 

         4)VIRECHANA - One of the panchakarma therapy where it cleans the toxins from our gut and help to attain a balance in pitta dosha.
